About Me
- Name: Steve
- Location: North Dakota, United States
In 1991 I graduated with an M.A. in Anthropology and immediately set off for Eastern Europe. I've lived in Poland, Bulgaria, Serbia and Saudi Arabia, and travel frequently to Lithuania, Belarus, Hungary and all over Eastern Europe. I met my wife in Poland and my son was born there. I started writing professionally there and was elected an Honorary Member of the Yugoslav Movement for the Protection of Human Rights in 1997. Politically I'm libertarian. (What kind? A sane one.) Culturally I'm an unashamed Western Civilization loyalist. Professionally I'm a teacher and writer, now pursuing my interests in the field of journalism and Mass Communication theory, currently working at a small town newspaper in North Dakota. Read the Fred column.
What would you bet the author of that book wears Coke-bottle glasses and Birkenstocks? Effeminate-voiced, as well?
So many idiots, so little ammunition.

No, actually Fred is a journalist, Vietnam vet and redneck country boy very familiar with guns and engines.
He spent some years bumming around the US living like a hobo, and still bums around some unsavory parts of the world. He was also a police reporter in D.C. for years - not a job for the faint of heart.
I read Fred religiously because of the things I agree with him on - and more importantly, for the things I don't.
