And some more good watches

In a comment to my post "Free Speech: Where's the Outrage?" blog friend Paardestaart says that over at Little Green Footballs you can see "Ezra Levant from Western Standard is lecturing the Canadian Human Rights commission who summoned him to appear for a hearing and to explain why he placed 'the cartoons' in his magazine..The way he tells her that she is out of line, and that he deeply resents being summoned to a kangaroo court is priceless, and a lesson to all of us, who seem to have forgotten our basic rights as free westerners.."

Go here http://littlegreenfootballs.com/weblog/?entry=28582_Outrage_of_the_Week-_Canadian_Publisher_Persecuted_for_Mindcrime&only

It's three YouTube videos and it's good. Levant sticks up for his right as a free man to say and publish what he pleases eloquently, articulately and forcefully.

Thanks friend. Could you tell us a little more about yourself? As much as you feel comfortable with. The name sounds Dutch (?) Is it a nomme du guerre meaning..?

YouTube clips of more than 15 seconds rarely keep my attention, but those three clips had me both rooting for the author and laughing at the way that he makes a mockery of the whole censorship process. I'm keeping that page bookmarked. Do you know if he has posted the transcript of his inquisition?

Saint, you can read all about the infuriating but hilarious courtcase of Ezra Levant on his own blog: http://www.ezralevant.com

And everyone: on Gates of Vienna you'll find the story of Lionheart, an English blogger from Luton who was told by friends that when he'll get back in England after his trip abroad he'll be arrested by the police for things he wrote on his blog..A Belarussian editor is sentenced to three years in jail because he published the MO-toons in his paper (!!), and a Finnish blogger is being harassed by the authorities in his country for 'stirring up hatred' toward 'certain groups'..

Things are picking up speed all over the western world, and all at the same time it seems

And Steve, you're right: 'Paardestaart' is Dutch, but it only means 'ponytail'
I live in Amsterdam and I want to translate your post on the cold war for a dutch blog; if you're alright with that?

I'm both fine with it and flattered Paardestaart. It's only previously been published in French on the web, so knock yourself out with a Dutch translation.
